B Group Architecture Receives Approval to Move Forward with Snead State Performing Arts Center Expansion

B Group Architecture, Inc. is pleased to announce that the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Board of Trustees has approved the renovation and expansion of the Bevill Performing Arts Center at Snead State Community College in Boaz, Alabama
The Board's approval includes the award of a $22 million construction contract to Birmingham-based Murray Construction, Inc., the successful low bidder for the project. Construction is expected to begin in July 2026, with completion anticipated in November 2027.
The transformative project will modernize and expand the approximately 50,000-square-foot performing arts facility, creating new opportunities for education, cultural enrichment, and community engagement throughout the region.
Designed by B Group Architecture, the revitalized Bevill Performing Arts Center will feature state-of-the-art digital sound, video, and theatrical lighting systems that significantly enhance the venue's capabilities for performances, presentations, and special events. These upgrades will provide students, faculty, and visiting performers with modern technology that supports a diverse range of artistic and educational programming.
One of the most prominent additions to the facility will be a new glass-enclosed entry lobby designed to serve as a vibrant gathering space for students, patrons, and community members. The lobby will feature a dramatic stadium-style stair, flexible meeting spaces, and dedicated gallery areas for exhibitions and community events, creating an inviting destination that extends beyond traditional performance functions.
The project will also introduce a new black-box theater, offering a flexible and adaptable venue for theatrical productions, rehearsals, educational programs, and special events. This addition will expand opportunities for Snead State's music and theater programs while providing a versatile performance space capable of accommodating a wide variety of artistic expressions.
